Net2Phone Bundled With New Netscape 6 Browser
Award-winning Internet telephony software integrated into
Personal Toolbar of Netscape 6
Hackensack, NJ and Mountain View, Ca. -- April 5, 2000 --- Net2Phone
Inc. (NASDAQ: NTOP) and Netscape, a subsidiary of America Online,
Inc. (NYSE: AOL), today announced that Net2Phone's award-winning
PC software is now fully embedded into Netscape's new Netscape 6
(R) browser, providing Netscape 6 users with value-added low-cost
voice services from their PCs. Netscape 6 Preview Release 1 was
released today and is available for download at Netscape Netcenter.
This integration is part of a multi-year agreement with Netscape
to bundle Net2Phone's PC services throughout Netscape's properties.
Jim Martin, senior vice president and general manager of Netscape
Netcenter, said, "This relationship distinguishes Netscape as the
most complete Internet browser by adding the most natural form of
communication today -- voice. Netscape has continuously provided
its users with the highest level of quality with all of our services,
and we believe Net2Phone's products will serve as a turn-key solution
to consumers and businesses worldwide who want an enriched multimedia
web experience."
Netscape has added a new button to its Personal Toolbar on the
Netscape 6 browser, entitled "Net2Phone," enabling browser users
to place calls from their multimedia PCs to any telephone or multimedia
PC around the world.
"Now for the first time, Internet users around the world can make
calls directly from their browser. A button on Netscape's personal
toolbar is prime real estate for the Internet, and we are excited
about the integration with Netscape's browser as well as throughout
the Netcenter site," said Howie Balter, CEO of Net2Phone. "Through
this integration, Net2Phone has become an integral part of the surfer's
web experience, bringing the voice component of the web to all Internet
users."
Net2Phone's PC services are also integrated throughout Netscape's
Netcenter portal, enabling one-click dialing integration with Netscape's
online directories and address books. Users can call anywhere within
the U.S. for 1 cent per minute. International rates begin at 3.9
cents per minute. Fulfillment is now immediate since the integration
of the browser eliminates the previous required download.
The powerful combination of Netscape 6, Net2Phone and the Netscape
Netcenter portal will offer consumers and businesses a convenient
and low cost way to keep in touch with friends, family and business
associates. By incorporating Net2Phone into Netscape's suite of
services, Web users with one phone line can place phone calls and
surf the Web at the same time. In addition, because calls are placed
directly through the Internet, consumers will realize substantial
savings.
Netscape 6 Preview Release 1 is available today for public download
on Netscape Netcenter. The new groundbreaking browser is small in
size, leads the industry in standards compliance and can run across
a wide variety of platforms from traditional PC desktops to new
computing devices. Netscape 6 offers users unmatched convenience
features, the ability to stay connected to important information
and the flexibility to deeply customize the browser to fit their
individual needs and personality.
