Net2Phone to Launch "YAP - Your Alternative Phone" Internet Telephony Products
New line of hardware to simplify making Internet Phone calls

Hackensack, NJ - APRIL 11, 2000 -- Net2Phone Inc. (NASDAQ: NTOP) today announced the introduction of a line of innovative hardware solutions designed to enable a wide range of users to easily make Internet phone calls. The new hardware line is called "YAP - Your Alternative Phone," and will be sold worldwide to consumers and enterprises through retail superstores, resellers and VARs this year.

"Once again, Net2Phone champions the IP telephony retail market by being the first to distribute IP telephony customer premise equipment through mass-market outlets," states John Cha, Industry Analyst with Frost & Sullivan. "The introduction of YAP products is the push of IP telephony technology into the mass market that the industry has been anticipating for a period of time."

YAP Business solutions will provide multi-line communications solutions suitable for small businesses and larger PBX corporate environments. YAP Consumer products will allow end users to connect any regular phone into Net2Phone's Internet calling network through a standard phone line or an Internet-enabled PC. All YAP users can enjoy reduced calling rates and free calls for PC-to-PC calls. YAP products will range in price from $40.00 - $2500.00.

Examples of the YAP product line include:

  • YAP Phone: Plug the YAP Phone into the USB port on your computer and install the Net2Phone software for quality Internet calling.
  • YAP Jack: Plug an ordinary telephone into the YAP Jack to use the Internet for clear and natural phone conversations. Users do not need a PC to make the call. Instead, Net2Phone places the call for using an Internet Service Provider and then routes the call over the Internet.
  • YAP Ports: Both corporate and residential users can plug the YAP Port into the back of a computer, and make toll-quality phone calls to any PC or phone. The YAP Port for USBs has its own voice compression technology that further enhances the quality of the call. The YAP Port also is available for serial ports.
  • YAP Multimax: Corporate users can leverage or extend the capacity of an Internet line into the equivalent of up to 6 lines, each of which capable of making and receiving calls, faxes, etc. while simultaneously maintaining a persistent Internet connection.

"We are very excited about bringing YAP to new points of entry with a targeted reach, which we hope will dramatically expand the usage of Internet telephony worldwide," said Jonathan Rand, Executive Vice President for Net2Phone. "YAP is a pioneering product line that will let anyone simply connect their phone system to the Internet and communicate easily and affordably using Net2Phone's award-winning technology, products, and network."

All YAP hardware will include Net2Phone's minutes, software and technology, and will terminate calls to any telephone, PBX, fax machine or multimedia Internet-connected PC in the world. The company is securing partners to distribute through electronic, computer, and office superstores worldwide, and expects the first of eight YAP products to be available in retail stores nationwide this summer.
