Net2Phone Announces Interoperability
Support for ARRIS Cable Telephony Equipment and Solutions
Enables multiple cable operators to seamlessly call between cable
networks and traditional phone systems
Newark, NJ - Dec 4, 2002 - Net2Phone (NASDAQ: NTOP), the leading
provider of Voice over IP (VoIP) services, today announced full
interoperable support of ARRIS' (NASDAQ: ARRS) head end and residential
cable equipment for its hosted VoIP solution for cable operators
worldwide.
By simultaneously supporting multiple companies' equipment, Net2Phone
can support cable operators that currently use ARRIS' Cable Modem
Terminating System (CMTS) and cable modem/eMTAs (Multimedia Terminal
Adapters). Additionally, Net2Phone is demonstrating its ability
to integrate and operate other key network elements including Net2Phone's
value added network monitoring, billing and operations support systems.
"ARRIS is very pleased that our Cadant C4 CMTS and Touchstone
Telephony Modems have been integrated into Net2Phone's unique offer
to the cable industry," said Stan Brovont, VP Marketing ARRIS
Broadband. "The integration achieved by ARRIS and Net2Phone
engineers is a key milestone in demonstrating to the operators that
PacketCable based VoIP is maturing rapidly and is ready to deploy
now."
"By developing the technology to bridge two of the leading
cable head-end equipment manufacturers on a single platform, Net2Phone
is catalyzing the concept of a fully-interoperable IP telecommunications
infrastructure," said Michael Pastor, Vice President of Net2Phone's
Cable Technology Division. "Our partners in cable telephony
are clearly headed in the right direction through continued support
of standards-based telephony, enabling consumers and businesses
around the world to communicate both on-net and off-net."
End-to-end network interoperability, demonstrated live at the Broadband
Plus show in Anaheim, CA this week, facilitates universal Voice
over IP calling. The solution provides any combination of on-net
and off-net calling between multiple vendors' equipment. The booth
has a fully functional, production-ready system that demonstrates
Net2Phone's commitment to solving MSOs interoperability and network
integration concerns. All calls are managed via Net2Phone's Cable
Voice Platform and CVOSS (Cable Voice Operations Support System),
Net2Phone's back-office monitoring and management system, providing
a shared interface between the cable MSO's local access network
and the public switched telephone network.
Net2Phone's Cable Technology Division provides cable operators
worldwide with a fully integrated and hosted telecommunications
solution utilizing DOCSISTM certified or qualified VoIP technologies.
By leveraging a distributed architecture of software and equipment
combined with a cost-effective service offering, Net2Phone enables
cable operators to sell their own telephony solution to their customers
utilizing their existing high-speed data network at low incremental
costs.
