CMA Expands Cable Telephony Agreement with Net2Phone
Net2Phone to bring VoIP services to four additional CMA markets
Newark, NJ – December 5, 2005 – Net2Phone (NASDAQ: NTOP) and CMA Communications (CMA), a cable television operator with 130,000 homes passed in the US, today announced that they’ve expanded their agreement to provide cable telephony services to four additional markets in Texas and Nevada.
Earlier this year, CMA and Net2Phone signed an agreement to deliver digital phone services to CMA customers in Belle Chasse, Louisiana, a suburb of New Orleans. The Belle Chasse deployment has been delayed due to Hurricane Katrina damaging CMA’s plant in Belle Chasse. Since September the companies have worked together to provide free VoIP calling to Belle Chasse residents impacted by the hurricane at the FEMA/Red Cross Center, but now anticipate deploying residential phone services in both the rebuilt Belle Chasse market and the new markets in Texas and Nevada in 2006. Combined, the five markets represent approximately 50,000 homes.
“Being able to bring our customers a high-quality, affordable telephony service in addition to our digital cable television and high-speed Internet offerings, furthers our commitment to the communities we serve” said Doug Bridges, President of CMA. “Working with Net2Phone after Hurricane Katrina to provide the vital service in Belle Chasse allowed us to appreciate the value of the partnership as well as the ease of launching this service.”
“We’re pleased to expand on our previous relationship with CMA in Louisiana and bring our feature-rich product to these communities in Louisiana, Nevada and Texas,” says Net2Phone CEO Liore Alroy. “Our affiliation with the NCTC is further proof of Net2Phone’s expertise in providing telephony solutions to cable operators in markets of all sizes.”
CMA is a member of the National Cable Television Cooperative (NCTC), a purchasing group that represents more than 1,100 US cable operators. Net2Phone’s Master Purchasing Agreement (MPA) with the NCTC offers members a way to quickly and easily offer telephony services to their customers.
