Siemens and Net2Phone Collaborate on Internet Telephony Solution
Siemens meets Net2Phone's requirements for voice quality,
call handling
Boca Ration, Fla. -- March 16, 1999 -- IDT's Net2Phone (NASDAQ:
IDTC) has successfully completed an evaluation of the Siemens InterXpress
solution in their IP telephony network. The evaluation by Net2Phone's
Labs concluded that the InterXpress solution meets Net2Phone's requirements
for voice quality and call handling capabilities.
Siemens InterXpress offers a complete end-to-end network solution
that allows service providers the capability to cost-effectively
consolidate voice and data into a multi-service integrated IP network.
The Siemens InterXpress platform is true carrier-grade, encompassing
all messaging components for a complete service offering, including
gateways, gatekeeper functionality, billing and value-added applications.
Net2Phone enables voice and data to be carried over the Internet's
packet-switched network until it reaches traditional telephone infrastructure.
There the signal is converted to the circuit-switched network used
by telephones, enabling the signal to be received by any phone worldwide.
"The InterXpress system is a complete solution delivering a high
level of speech quality and meeting the stringent, carrier-class
requirements of telecom network providers for stability and expansion
of IP-based communication services. That's crucial for companies
such as Net2Phone, a leader in carrier-grade Internet telephony
services," said Chuck Harris, vice president of Internet Solutions
for Siemens.
"The Siemens InterXpress family offers a comprehensive suite of
products available for large-scale IP telephony deployments, and
that is an important positive factor," said David Greenblatt, chief
operating officer of Net2Phone.
