Net2Phone Launches Net2Fax PC-to-Fax Solution
Real-time Internet faxing solution now available from the leader in IP Telephony services

HELSINKI, Finland-- June 22, 1999 -- Net2Phone, Inc. today released Net2Fax, its new PC-to-fax software, at the Voice on Net show in Helsinki Finland. Net2Fax allows PC users to send faxes through the Internet to any fax machine in the world. Net2Fax will be available in a limited release to the first 50,000 users who sign up for Net2Fax via the Net2Phone web site at www.net2phone.com .

Net2Fax advantages include:

  • Reduction of fax costs - by up to 95% off of the cost of traditional long distance faxes
  • The ability to work on almost any PC platform (multimedia not required)
  • Extensive fax broadcast capabilities:
  • send a single fax to multiple recipients
  • Low per minute rates for faxes sent
  • A secure login for multiple users on the same PC Net2Fax uses the same account numbers as Net2Phone's PC-to-phone software, providing a dual benefit to Net2Phone's current users.

Faxes are carried over the Internet from the user's PC, until it reaches Net2Phone's switches, and are then routed over Net2Phone's network to the intended fax machine. This system insures that Net2Fax's rates are not dependent upon the country of origin. Users pay as little as 4.9 cents a minute for faxes to the United States -- from anywhere in the world.

"As more people move towards the use of IP Telephony, the integration of fax over the Internet will offer a superior communications model where there will be no barriers because of distance or cost," said David Greenblatt, Chief Operating Officer of Net2Phone. "Our customers take advantage of the highest possible savings on all long distance calling and faxing. Net2Fax will allow both consumers and corporate users to take advantage of the savings already offered through Net2Phone."

Faxes can be sent from a specially created interface on the PC's desktop or directly from a PC document. For example, if a user is working on a Microsoft Excel document, they can simply choose the "Print" option from the drop down menu on the toolbar. Instead of sending the document to their printer, they send it to Net2Fax for delivery.

Users will also be able to check their account activity online at Net2Phone's "My Account" Interactive Information center at www.net2phone.com. Details displayed include all activities related to their calls/faxes and bills, including the time, length, destination, and charge for each call as well as a history of all payments and credits.

Through an agreement with Open Port Technology Inc., a leader in Internet messaging solutions, including fax-over-IP, Net2Fax has incorporated a special version of Open Port's award-winning IP fax client and server software.

"We're pleased we were able to provide Net2Phone our award-winning software to 'power' their Net2Fax solution," said Bob Rainone, Vice President of Marketing, Open Port Technology. "Net2Phone represents ingenuity and creativity in the telephony and Internet access service business. It is great to work with a service provider that understands they must offer compelling services, such as Net2Fax, so they can compete effectively and ultimately drive new sources of revenue."
