Instant Messaging
 

Instant messaging is the ability to send and receive small text messages with friends and family in real time. Using a "chat style" window, your message will appear instantly on the screen of any online user you choose from within your active contact list.

Using the instant message feature is quite simple. Here are some quick pointers to get you started. Please follow through the topics and FAQ's (frequently asked questions) and enjoy using Net2Phone CommCenter®.

How Do I Send And Reply To Instant Messages?
 
Sending an instant message is very simple. To do so:

  1. Right click on "online" user within your active contact list
  2. Select Send Message. The text window will appear on your desktop
  3. Type your message in the bottom box of the message window and click Send
Your message should appear on your friends screen instantly. By default, instant messages appear in "chat style". The window will remain open for you to chat with your friends until you decide to close the window.

To reply to an instant message, simply type your reply into the lower box provided on the incoming message window.

How Do I View And Delete My Message History?
 
The "History" window displays all of your past messages related to a specific user within your active contact list. You can view your message history with a particular user by:
  1. Right clicking on a username in your active contact list
The message history window will appear on your screen. Your messages are listed by date, time, contact, and message. To clear the history for a specific user, click the "Clear" button.

How To Block A Contact From Sending You Messages.
 
If you do not wish to be contacted by a specific user you can "block" them. Once you have blocked a user they will not be able to instant message or call you at all. There are several ways to block users from contacting you.

1. When a user you wish to block sends you an instant message:
  • From the message window, select File
  • And then select Block User
2. From the CommCenter main window:
  • From the Options menu, select Privacy Options
  • Click the Block another user... button
  • Type the username of the user you wish to block or select their username from the pull down list
The user will now be blocked from contacting you until you decide to remove them from your block list.
