What You Need
to Make Calls With VoiceLine
- A VoiceLine account and phone number
- A broadband Internet connection (such as DSL, cable,
T1, LAN, or WAN)
- An InnoMedia XT telephone adapter or an XJ-100
Wi-Fi Phone (both are available from Net2Phone)
- A telephone
How to Dial
Pick up the phone handset, wait for the dial tone, and dial.
Here are some helpful dialing guidelines:
- If you are dialing a U.S. phone number with the same
area code as your VoiceLine phone number, you only need
to dial the 7-digit phone number. For example, if you live
in the 973 area code, to call another 973 number you only
need to dial xxx-xxxx, instead of 1-973-xxx-xxxx.
- If you are dialing a U.S. phone number with a different
area code, be sure to dial a “1” before
the area code and phone number.
- If you are making an international call, be sure
to dial as you would dial with your traditional phone service,
including the international dialing and country codes.
You can make phone calls with VoiceLine and access the Internet
at the same time.
Traveling With VoiceLine
Your VoiceLine service can travel with you. When someone calls
your VoiceLine phone number, your phone rings wherever you
have your telephone and adapter plugged into a broadband Internet
connection -- whether you are at home or traveling somewhere
else in the world. The person calling you will have exactly
the same experience and they will be priced exactly the same
by their phone company regardless of where you have your VoiceLine
service connected.
If your VoiceLine phone number includes emergency (911) services,
please note that you can only access emergency (911) services
from the service address you provided when you set up your
account. If you move your telephone adapter to another location,
you will not be able to access emergency (911) services.
Using VoiceLine Features
A monthly calling plan includes great features such as VoiceMail,
call waiting, caller ID, call forwarding, and more -- all
at no extra charge. Refer to the Features
section for details and complete instructions.
Online Feature Management
You can manage your calling features at any time by logging
into www.net2phonevoiceline.com.
From this easy-to-use online interface, you can manage settings
for your Caller ID, Call Forwarding, VoiceMail, and more.
Using Service Codes
Service Codes are a series of numbers that you press on your
telephone keypad to either use or manage a VoiceLine feature.
You can view all of the features
and download a complete list of service
codes.
Example of Using a Service Code
to Use a Feature
You can use the Call Return feature to
call the number of your last incoming
call automatically, without having to
dial the number manually. The service
code for this feature is *69. So you would
dial *69 (after hearing a dial tone) and
the phone number of the last incoming
caller would be automatically dialed.
Refer to the Features
section for more details.
Example of Using a Service Code
to Manage a Feature
To enable an account balance announcement before all of your
calls, simply wait for the dial tone, dial *02, and hang up.
To turn off the account balance announcement before all of
your calls, simply wait for the dial tone, dial *03, and hang
up. Refer to the Features section
for more details.

711 Service
VoiceLine customers with speech or hearing disabilities may obtain assistance in placing a call by dialing 711 to connect with a telecommunications relay service (TRS) center. Specially trained Communications Assistants at TRS centers provide confidential assistance to allow persons with a wide range of speech or hearing disabilities to complete calls. Emergency calls should not be placed using 711. All customers, including those with speech or hearing disabilities, must dial 911 for emergency services. This ensures that you will reach the appropriate emergency service agencies dedicated to providing service in your geographic location.
